How to get 5 month old to take pacifier/dummy?

My daughter is almost 5 months old I have tried every type of dummy to try and get her to take one. She prefers to suck on mittens bibs or blankets sometimes I manage to get her to take a dummy and when she does she enjoys it and uses it to get her self to sleep. The reason I would like her to accept a dummy is because I would like her to self soothe with the dummy rather than me having to rock her or bounce her or walk around with her. i don't like the idea of teaching her to suck her thumb because u can't take those away when there to old for it. I would let her suck her mitts but when she is asleep she had to be wrapped up tight otherwise she hits her self in the face kicks her legs and wakes her self up again! Please any tips?
